Sri Yerramilli Narayana Murty college was established in the year 1949 to cater to the needs of spreading higher education among the young of this locality and of the neighbouring places. It is one of the oldest colleges in Andhra University area. The college celebrated its Golden Jubilee in the year 2000. Since its inception, it has been witnessing vast infrastructural development and evolved as a premier institution of higher education, gaining strength year by year on academic front with a continuous growth in infrastructure.
The objectives of this centre aim to promote activities both for the younger generation and for the more mature Gandhian activists and workers, and to translate the same into social life for the benefit of the nation.
The college is offering MBA, MCA, M.Sc., Microbilogy, M.Sc., Biotechnology, M.Sc., Mathematics, M.Sc., Electronics, M.Sc, Computer Science, M.Com, M.A., English and M.A., Public Administration at PG level and Science and Arts courses at Degree level.
In the year 2004, the college was accredited by NAAC with "A" Grade. It is the first college among non-autonomous private aided colleges in the state to have obtained NAAC "A" Grade.
Gandhian Studies Centre was sanctioned by the UGC, New Delhi during 2006-2007 under the Xth Plan. The Objective of the centre is to promote, organize and undertake the study of life and thought of Mahatma Gandhi and conduct a comparative study on Gandhi and Ambedkar in Andhra Pradesh; to collect and disseminate data and information on institutions and individuals engaged in constructive work or the study and dissemination of Gandhian thought and to promote and carry on research in various aspects of Gandhian thought and activities.
